Mended, not replaced.
A failed zip or a split seam is not the end of a garment. Most damage is repairable, and repairing it is usually quicker and cheaper than replacing what you liked.
What is possible depends on the fabric and where the damage is. A tear along a seam is straightforward. A tear in the middle of a woven face is harder, and how invisible the repair can be depends on the weave.
We will tell you honestly what the result will look like before starting. If a repair will show, you should know that before you decide, not after.
Common repairs
- Zips replaced in trousers, dresses, jackets and bags
- Split and worn seams restitched
- Linings replaced or repaired
- Buttons, hooks, eyes and fastenings
- Tears and holes mended, as invisibly as the fabric allows
- Worn hems and cuffs rebuilt
Before you come
- Bring the garment — damage is much easier to assess in person than in a photo
- Keep any piece that has come off, such as a button or a pull
- Tell us how the damage happened if you know; it affects the repair
